Since completing his studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London under the tutelage of Malcolm Martineau, Sergey has worked extensively with the City of Birmingham Opera, English Touring Opera, Garsington Opera, Opera Holland Park, and Grange Park Opera.

As a recitalist, he has performed at the Leeds Lieder+ Festival, Hampstead and Highgate Festival, Beaminster Festival, and other prominent UK venues, collaborating with renowned artists such as Joan Rodgers, Justina Gringytė, Katherine Broderick, Nelly Miricioiu, Sergey Leiferkus, among others.

Sergey has been elected an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music and joined the coaching staff of the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. Following his work as chef de répétiteur on ROH’s production of Eugene Onegin, he joined the music staff for productions of Lucia di Lammermoor, Nabucco, The Nose, Les Contes d'Hoffmann, and Der Rosenkavalier.

In recent seasons, he has contributed to the preparation of Khovanshchina at Welsh National Opera, performed at the Oxford Lieder Festival with Katherine Broderick, returned to the ROH for Lucia di Lammermoor, and worked on Der Rosenkavalier at the Glyndebourne Festival. During the summer, he joined the music staff of the Mediterranean Opera Studio in Sicily, the Oxenfoord International Summer School in Scotland, Scuola del Belcanto in Urbania, Italy, and The New Generation Festival in Florence.

While maintaining ongoing coaching responsibilities at the Jette Parker Programme, Sergey has worked internationally, including at La Monnaie in Brussels (The Tale of Tsar Saltan), the Mediterranean Opera Studio in Sicily, and the 2019 New Generation Festival in Florence. He returned to Glyndebourne in 2021 for Il Turco in Italia, and was recently appointed Vocal Consultant to the English Touring Opera’s Music Advisory Board. Other recent work includes RhineGold for Birmingham Opera, La Bohème for English Touring Opera, The Fiery Angel at Teatro Real in Madrid, Le Nozze di Figaro at Glyndebourne, and The Queen of Spades at La Monnaie.

Most recently, Sergey served as assistant conductor to Evelino Pidò on La Bohème at the Royal Opera House, conducted a nationwide tour of Giulio Cesare for English Touring Opera, assisted Paul Daniel on The Queen of Spades at the Grange Festival, and conducted offstage for ROH’s Cavalleria Rusticana and Pagliacci.

In 2024, Sergey joined soprano Paula Sides to perform Poulenc’s La Voix Humaine at the VOCES8 Centre in London, coinciding with the release of a new CD. He returned to Glyndebourne for The Merry Widow and Carmen during the summer season, and performed in recital with Hongni Wu at the Shanghai Symphony Hall and Xinghai Concert Hall in China. He is currently engaged as assistant and cover conductor for ROH’s new production of Eugene Onegin.

Upcoming engagements include Eugene Onegin at Teatro Real in Madrid, and assisting Paul Daniel on Die Fledermaus for The Grange Festival.
